That’s obviously awkward since Margie and Bud are both right there . She ends up inviting Danny to the apartment where dinner is underway with Kate’s parents, Sean, Kate, and Johnny. During the meal, Margie makes a comment about how women don’t need men and that it’s okay to have a career instead. Margie wants to set him up with her friend’s daughter, Nancy.
Plus, the song “Run on for a Long Time,” playing in the background as the trio gets inside the elevator, suggests that this will be one bumpy ride. The trio drives to Logan’s estate and Claire introduces Eleanor to Peter. Claire’s little brother, like Eleanor, is battling the same infection and know one another. After seeing a framed picture of an event that happened ten years ago, Eleanor recalls that she and Peter were made partners for a stargazing event. The duo reveals that during the same event, a strange man walked up to them and collected their respective addresses for newsletters.

Her bill from the veterinarian for her dog’s operation was much more than she expected, so she steals from the WI’s funds to pay for it. To compensate, she seeks out the dishonest deal that was offered her in the previous episode, provided that it’s a one-time situation. The businessman agrees, but says he doubts she’ll be able to live without them in the future. As foreshadowed, it’s later hinted that there will be more of these to come, for she meets a friend of Driscoll’s who wants a similar deal with her. Continuing the protest/Binswanger thread, the KPOC team heads to a press conference for Benedict Binswanger in honor of his candidacy for governor. Tully even gets to ask him a question about the logging protests, but Benedict shuts her down in the most patronizing and sexist way possible. Tully continues her free-spirited sexcapades in the 1980s. Johnny teases her about her inability to commit and the speech she gives to every guy after they spend the night together. During their conversation, Tully lets it slip that Kate was a virgin before hooking up with Johnny, something she apparently didn’t tell him.
The situation is about to go haywire because, according to Naomi, Mark is in Mexico, and after finding otherwise, Naomi will be forced to investigate Mark’s sudden disappearance. First, Johnny and Kate have an argument outside as Johnny thinks Kate is pushing Marah, and he doesn’t agree with how she’s handling it. He’s also been testy in general, having an episode in the shower after the sound of a dropping shampoo bottle triggered a flashback to Iraq. He keeps telling Kate to back off and leaves in a huff that night. Claire is the spunky working class girl who now works as housemaid to Frances Barden, and she and the cute mailman Spencer now seem to be in a will-they-won’t-they relationship.
Taking some advice from Justine and, surprisingly, Cloud, she decides to launch a website where she can blog to her fans about her life. Her first post clarifies why she left The Girlfriend Hour and signals to her followers that she’s ready to kick off a new chapter. Their marriage has officially been annulled, and Kate also points out that they’re just a day away from what was going to be Tully’s original due date before she had the miscarriage. Tully claims she’s fine and has moved on from everything. Kate is dealing with the aftermath of Johnny’s accident in Iraq. The good news is that Johnny survived, though he’s pretty banged up.
She cornered Eleanor with her lies and convinced her to inject herself with the drug she tried on Daisy. She even tries to convince Mark to kill Naomi, but for Mark, the thought of murdering Naomi is too much to bear, and he leaves, thwarting Claire’s plans. But Kate jumps in to take the blame despite Tully’s protests. The fact Kate is also half-naked when the fire trucks arrive also doesn’t help her cause, and Stan fires her. But Kate isn’t all that upset about it since she knows the job is way more important to Tully, whereas, for her, it’s just a job.
